The knight's helmet reminds me the ones which were in vogue during the normans rule in Sicily. I love the how you have represented the shields, dirty with the enemy's blood and with many cuts from the enemy's swords and axes... Even the small campfire and the vegetation is so brillantly done.

I actually just returned that famous helmet them to its rightful owner. Fact that rebuilding them, is found only in a fresco of 1200 in Spoleto, in the deconsecrated church of Santi Giovanni e Paolo, where he represented the martyrdom of St. Thomas Becket and has nothing to do with the Normans. What put it to a Norman knight was, God rest his soul, the great historical illustrator Angus McBride. ;)

Oh! True! Well sometimes Angus was too imaginative, for example when he abused of scale armour or re-imagined some helmets or weapons from scratch, but he was very accurate, overall, but filled the holes with his own interpretation. And because you are so accurate, historical, and because behind every artwork lays a trully well done research, I admire your wonderful paintings. Thanks for replying! And thanks for the correction, my fault (Or Angus?).

no defect, you have just seen. The error, if anything, is Angus Mcbride, but his was a free interpretation. ;)
